GETAWAY SERIES: Girls Weekend in LA

For a little while now, I've been in need of a getaway. I've been ready for a little vacation, preferably somewhere sunny, and the weekend before my birthday seemed like the perfect time to do that! Felt like the best way to start my birthday week! My girlfriends and I packed our bags, ready to escape the rain in Seattle, and headed down to Los Angeles.

This weekend getaway felt like the perfect next addition to my Getaway Series and I could not wait to compile some of my favorite shots from my time away!

We had a connecting flight in Sacramento and we were a little worried about making it since our first flight was delayed. Luckily I was able to get us on an earlier flight and we each got our own row where we stretched out and took a little nap. Fly…

We had a connecting flight in Sacramento and we were a little worried about making it since our first flight was delayed. Luckily I was able to get us on an earlier flight and we each got our own row where we stretched out and took a little nap. Flying into Sacramento, I felt like I was having a Lady Bird moment, marveling at the beauty of this city.

On our first night, we made our way over to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art where this structure called "Urban Lights" stood. These lamp posts have become a staple of the city, appearing in many movies and shows. I really wanted to go check it …

The structure was beautiful and provided a great backdrop for many photos.

Our second day brought us to Griffith Observatory. As we waited for the bus to take us up there, we walked past the Greek Theater. It's so cool seeing so many pop culture references in person.

Right as we got off the bus at Griffith Observatory, the Hollywood sign was sitting right on the hill in front of us. I was just one of many that had to stop and take a quick photo.

I'll be honest, I didn't know much about Griffith Observatory leading up to our trip there. I didn't realize that inside was all this information about space, a telescope, and a free opportunity to learn more. It was hands down one of my favorite st…

LA is known for having many "Instagrammable" areas, mainly decorative building walls. This pink wall on the sides of Paul Smith on Melrose Ave. is one of the most famous. So we had to stop by and get a few photos.

Another pretty wall, another place to wait in line while other people took their own photos.

While walking down Melrose, we spotted this greenery wall on Fred Segal's store, so we made another stop to soak up the sun and get some happy photos.

While we were in LA, we were able to get together with my cousin and his girlfriend for dinner. It was really nice catching up with them over guacamole and margaritas, and afterwards, they took us out to West Hollywood's Flaming Saddles for a memorable night out. I honestly don't think I will ever forget this experience.

We spent our last day wandering around Venice, exploring the shops and walking along the beach. It made leaving California to return to rainy Washington very, very difficult.
