Five Instagrammable San Diego Spots // East Village

Since moving to San Diego, I have stumbled upon many places that are truly Instagram-worthy. Beautiful sunsets, colorful murals, you name it, San Diego has it. While compiling a list of Instagrammable spots, I quickly realized that there were going to be too, too many. So instead, I think I’ll make this a series and highlight a number of spots by San Diego neighborhood. First up, East Village!

1. “Geoscape” Mural

F Street and 14th Street

I love a colorful mural. Living in Downtown San Diego, I’ve walked past many murals done by Ladies Who Paint and I love their mission of empowering women in art and supporting female artists and their work. This one, done by L Star Murals, is one of my favorites for its abstract shapes and bright colors.

2. “Hi, Hello, Hola” Mural

F Street and 14th Street

A few steps down the street from the “Geoscape” mural is this “Hi, Hello, Hola” mural. This mural is also featured on the Ladies Who Paint website and was done by Pandr Design Co. This piece was a community contribution and is a fun, inclusive art piece.

3. Lion Mural

G Street and 15th Street

I lovvvveeee this lion mural! The lines are so clean, the colors are so vibrant, and the whole piece is beautifully done. Every time I go by it, I take a second to pause and admire it. Seriously though, how can you not?

4. Young Hickory

810 13th St, San Diego, CA 92101

While out for a walk one day, I came across Young Hickory, a coffeeshop hang out that had this beautiful mural painted on one of the inside walls. I ended up returning the next day for a cup of coffee and to snap a pic of this “Stay Buzzed” mural.

5. You & Yours

1495 G St, San Diego, CA 92101

You and Yours is a distillery that I’ve walked past a few times. Not only is the inside adorable looking (will definitely feature that in another blog post), I loved these tiles by their outdoor dining and drinking space. This is the only non-mural on this list, and that’s OK because not every Instagram-worthy spot has to be overly colorful or a piece of art.
