YEAR OF HAPPINESS // September Resolution

September has come and gone in a flash, and here we are, facing down the last few months of 2021. This month, my resolution was to TRY SOMETHING NEW and I’m so happy this was my focus. I have a tendency to stay in my comfort zone and can get nervous if I try something I might not automatically be good at. So September was a great time for me to step out of that and try some new things.

One new bake a week

This one I was excited about! I tried out four different bakes in September - cinnamon roll cookies, cheesecake, a blondie, and lemon poppy seed bread. Some were successes, some not so much. The great thing about this resolution was that it really pushed me to make desserts I had never made before and I have the confidence in myself that I can create them.

Run a 5k in California

I’ve ran plenty of 5k’s in my life. I ran cross country in high school and have participated in a few fun runs since then. But since moving to California, I hadn’t even considered it. So Andrew and I signed up for the Aloha Run and I’m so happy we did. Was it tough? Yes. Did my body hurt for a couple days afterwards? Absolutely. But we stepped outside of our comfort zone and pushed our bodies to complete this 5k. I definitely think there will be more races in our future.

Now, I would call the two resolutions above a success. But that doesn’t mean the whole month was a success. At the beginning of September, I told myself that I was going to take an online class. Andrew and I have access to Masterclass, a platform with classes for really any topic you can think of. But the month got away from me and I had to scratch that. But just because the month is over and I’m about to focus on a new resolution, doesn’t mean I can’t still pursue a class. So we’ll see!

October’s resolution is all about FAMILY and I know that’s going to be a good month.
