Spring Mocktails

Happy spring!

I very much enjoy ringing in a new season with some type of recipe. It’s usually desserts, but lately I’ve been trying my hand at mocktails!

I’ve mentioned in previous blog posts how I don’t drink much anymore. I have a vivid memory of being out at a bar for my 24th birthday and I noticed that as the night went on, I was getting more and more congested. That started becoming a habit whenever I would drink - sniffles, head pressure, and plenty of congestion. It reached a point where it just wasn’t worth it anymore to enjoy a drink.

For many years, there didn’t seem to be a lot of options for me in terms of zero-proof beverages. If I went out with friends, I’d usually just opt for a soda or water. While my friends cheered their fun, fruity cocktails, I just sucked down a basic lemonade. But, it the past few years, mocktails have started becoming more popular and available, and I’ve even started making some non-alcoholic drinks at home! There are a bunch of reasons why people choose not to drink, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be able to have fun with our beverages.

So, to celebrate a new season, here are two spring-themed mocktails!

Non-Alcoholic Pineapple LIME SPRITZ

When looking at spring fruits to highlight in mocktails, I learned that pineapple is basically in season all spring long! I love the sweet, juicy flavor of pineapples and think it’s a great hero flavor in a drink. Lime felt like a good option for pairing, and the garnish makes the drink look more vibrant and colorful.

  • 1/2 oz. lime juice

  • 3 oz. pineapple juice

  • 3 oz. club soda

  • Lime slice for garnish

  1. Put ice cubes in a glass, then add in lime and pineapple juice.

  2. Top with club soda, then mix.

  3. Add a lime slice to the side of the glass.

Non-alcoholic RosÉ FIZZ

In my early 20’s, I loved a glass of rosé. But as I got older, wine became a big congestion culprit and I just couldn’t enjoy it anymore. This year, I’ve discovered non-alcoholic rosé and have really liked it! I tend to gravitate more towards the sweet wines instead of dry, and non-alcoholic options allow me to have a fun drink without the physical side effects.

  • 3 oz. non-alcoholic rosé

  • 3 oz. club soda

  • Sliced strawberries

  1. Add ice cubes to a wine glass.

  2. Combine non-alcoholic rosé and club soda.

  3. Slice up a strawberry and add to the wine glass.
